  • Tholo Matimba is located in the Waterberg Mountain District of Limpopo Province of South Africa. Our hunting area is a Malaria Free Zone. 

  • We offer a wide range of game. Popular options include Kudu, Impala, Warthog, Zebra, Wildebeest, Klipspringer, Nyala, to name a few. Dangerous game hunts are organized through our partner Daniel du Toit at Kolobe Safaris located an hour away. A full species list and price guide can be found under the Hunting Options Tab.

  • All required permits are arranged by our team. We handle the paperwork to ensure your hunt is fully legal and compliant. 

  • Yes. South Africa allows for the temporary import of rifles, shotguns and ammunition. We provide step-by-step guidance for SAPS firearm importation, including SAPS 520. We can arrange for a firearm import agent to meet you at the airport. You can learn more at the Weapon Importation Tab.

  • Yes. If you prefer not to travel with your own firearm, we offer reliable, well-maintained firearms.

  • Yes. We offer outstanding bow hunting hides. Bows do not require a firearm permit.

  • Accommodations, All Meals and Beverages, Professional Hunter (PH), Trackers and Skinners, Daily Laundry Service, Field Preparation of Trophies, Transportation within the Hunting Area.  

  • We offer a clean, well-appointed rustic camp. The camp contains four single beds, a galley kitchen, full bath with hot running water and outdoor dining. There is a safe to store firearms, and the camp is surrounded by a solar-powered electric fence to keep out wandering game. Meals are prepared over an open fire, and full daily housekeeping is provided. 

  • We welcome non-hunters who can observe the hunt, relax at camp, and enjoy captivating photography opportunities. We can also arrange for nearby photo safaris. 

  • Trophies are skinned, salted, and prepared for delivery to the taxidermist. We work with Safari Taxidermy and trusted shipping agents to ensure your trophies reach home safely.

  • Some of the hunted animals will be prepared for you to taste at camp. Tholo Matimba also works with an elder house here in Mokopane and an orphanage in Naboomspruit. If you choose, the meat can be donated to these organizations. Without donations, both places have limited access to red meat. Both organizations will write you a Thank You note for you to bring home.

  • All hunting activities carry some level of risk; however, your safety is our top priority. All hunts are guided by experienced professional hunters who follow strict safety protocols. 

  • We recommend: Earth-tone Colors, Comfortable Boots, Camp Shoes, Hat and Sunscreen. Medium-Weight Jacket, Fleece, Personal Medication. A full packing list is provided after booking as it depends on the season and what activities you will be engaging in.
